About Bright Picks

Hands writing notes in a notebook surrounded by open books and papers.

Bright Picks is a UK buying-guide site. The main work is the guides: we take one narrow question — what size air fryer a family of four actually needs, whether a luggage tracker is worth buying — name what we would buy, say who it suits and what the catch is, then send you to Amazon UK to check the current price. There are 12 of them so far, and we would rather add them slowly than pad the list.

Alongside the guides we sort Amazon UK’s own live deals, price drops and Lightning Deals by category, so you can see what is discounted right now without hunting across dozens of pages. That is the second half of the site rather than the first: a deal is only useful once you know what you are actually looking for. We are not a retailer, we do not create the deals, and we do not set the prices.

We cover Electronics, Home Office, Kitchen, Gadgets, Home & Garden, Fashion — and every card links to Amazon’s own live listing. There are no coupon codes to copy, no accounts to create and no forms to fill in. We never invent prices or discounts: what you see is whatever Amazon is offering at the moment you click.

How we choose what to show

Our named picks are research-based, not tested. Where a category page names specific products — “Best overall”, “Best value” and so on — we have not bought, used or physically tested them. Those picks come from researching published specifications, patterns in customer feedback, warranty and support terms, and professional reviews from publications that do test. We say so plainly because the alternative is letting you assume a testing lab that does not exist.

The labels are recommendations, not scores. We deliberately do not publish a decimal rating out of five: a number like “4.7” implies a weighted scoring system behind it, and we do not have one. A short label plus an honest description of the trade-off tells you more than invented precision. If we ever do test products directly, we will say which ones and how.

We also try to say who each pick is wrong for. A recommendation with no downside is an advert, and you should treat it as one — here or anywhere else.

Each category is broken into a handful of well-known sub-topics (for example, Kitchen includes air fryers, coffee machines and blenders). Every card on this site is a live link into Amazon UK’s own deals search, filtered to items currently on a genuine price drop or Lightning Deal for that topic — it is not a hand-picked single product, and we don’t claim it is. That’s a deliberate trade-off: it means every link always points at whatever Amazon is actually discounting right now, so nothing here can quietly go stale or 404 on a discontinued item. The site rebuilds weekly so the ordering and the featured pick per category rotate, but the underlying deals always come straight from Amazon.

Why Amazon, right now

Bright Picks used to also link out to individual retailers’ own deals pages (Argos, Currys, John Lewis, AO, Very). We removed those: retailers restructure their deal URLs often enough that links quietly rotted into 404s, and we had no affiliate relationship with them anyway, so they didn’t serve you or fund the site. Amazon UK is the one source we can link to with confidence that the page behind the click is real and current. We’d like to bring back other retailers if we can do it through a proper, verified feed (an affiliate network like Awin or CJ) rather than raw links that can break — that’s tracked as ongoing work, not abandoned.

What we don’t claim

We are not a whole-market price comparison site — we don’t check whether a cheaper price exists elsewhere, and we don’t claim Amazon is always the lowest price. We don’t manufacture urgency: no fake countdown timers, no “only 2 left” unless Amazon itself shows that. Always check the current price and delivery details on Amazon itself before you buy.

The site refreshes automatically so the deals stay current. To keep the lights on, Amazon links carry our affiliate tag and we may earn a small commission on qualifying purchases — always at no extra cost to you. Full detail is on our affiliate disclosure page.
